Shelley Sheedy

Shelley Sheedy, RN, BScN, MHSt, is an experienced healthcare leader with 40 years of diverse leadership across long-term care, acute care, community health, and nursing education.

Throughout her career, she has held progressive leadership roles that have advanced person-centred care, quality improvement, and organizational excellence across Ontario’s healthcare system.

Shelley served as Director of Long-Term Care for the County of Renfrew’s long-term care homes, following leadership roles as Resident Care Coordinator, Director of Care, and Administrator. During her tenure, she successfully led the redevelopment of a long-term care home, guided the organization to Accreditation Canada’s highest distinction of Accreditation with Exemplary Standing, introduced the Butterfly Approach to strengthen person-centred care, and championed initiatives to improve quality, resident experience, and organizational performance. She also served concurrently as the County of Renfrew’s Acting Chief Administrative Officer.

Shelley taught in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program delivered jointly by the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College.

In addition to mentoring the next generation of LTC leaders through the CHA Learning’s Long-Term Care Executive Leadership Program for the past five years, Shelley also serves as a Panel Chair of the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee and is a Director for a Hospital Board and Chair of it’s Patient Safety and Quality Committee.

Shelley holds a Master of Health Studies in Organizational Leadership from Athabasca University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa. She is a certified LTC Administrator. A life-long commitment to learning includes healthcare leadership, municipal management, long-term care administration, and chronic disease self-management. She is a published author and frequent conference presenter whose areas of expertise include person-centred care, strategic planning, continuous quality improvement, leadership development, and innovative human resource practices.
