Janet Bayley

Janet Bayley is a health information management professional and educator with more than 40 years of experience in medical coding, health records, decision support, data quality, and health information education. She currently serves as Coding Coordinator at Windsor Regional Hospital and has been a member of the CHA Learning faculty since 2014.

Janet began her career in the Medical Records Department at the University of Alberta Hospital and has since worked in health information roles across Canada and the United States. Her coding experience includes positions with Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie, Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, and Regina General Hospital. She later served as Manager of Health Records at Erie Shores Healthcare before joining Windsor Regional Hospital, where she has held roles as Health Records Coder, Decision Support Analyst, and Coding Coordinator. She has also contributed to a Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) Discharge Abstract Database data quality reabstraction study.

Janet holds a Bachelor of Health Administration in Health Information Management from Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly Ryerson University, and an Associate of Science degree in Medical Transcription from California College for Health Sciences. She is also a graduate of CHA Learning’s Coding Specialist Program and previously completed Health Information Services and Health Record Technician education through the Canadian Healthcare Association and Canadian Hospital Association.

An active member of the Canadian Health Information Management Association since 1985, Janet has extensive experience supporting the education and development of health information professionals. In addition to her work with CHA Learning, she served as contract coding instructor with Anderson College from 2019 – 2024, drawing on her decades of practical coding experience to support the development of current and future health information professionals.
