Diane Collins

Diane Collins is a Health Information Management professional with more than 30 years of experience in health information, coding, data quality, and healthcare operations. Her career with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and its predecessor organizations has included both frontline Health Information Management practice and 13 years in a supervisory role supporting HIM professionals across multiple healthcare facilities in rural Saskatchewan.

Diane began her career as a Health Records Clerk before progressing to a Health Information Management Practitioner role. In 2009, she became an HIM Supervisor, providing leadership, guidance, and operational support to Health Information Management teams until 2022. Her experience also includes contract coding for healthcare facilities outside her region and representing rural Saskatchewan on the Provincial Data Quality Committee, where she contributed to efforts to improve the quality, consistency, and accuracy of coded health information.

Diane completed Health Information Management studies through the Canadian Healthcare Association and has continued her professional development through studies in health data classification, Health Information Management, leadership, and coding. She completed CHA Learning’s Coding Specialist Program in 2018.

Diane joined CHA Learning as a faculty member for the Coding Specialist Program in 2019 and expanded her role to the Coding Refresher Program in 2024. She draws on her extensive experience in coding, data quality, and HIM supervision to support learners developing and refreshing their coding and classification knowledge.
